Since 2019, immobilization is not a Thatcham requirement, but it offers added security. S5 trackers with immobilization allow remote immobilization by the control center in a theft situation, some even via a smartphone app.

For insurance-approved products, you'll receive a certificate post-installation and payment, accessible via your online portal or emailed by the tracking manufacturer within 48 hours.

Tracker current drain when the vehicle is parked is minimal and will not impact the vehicle's electronics or starting ability

We will reach out to you within 24 hours of receiving your order (Mon-Fri) to schedule a fitting appointment. Our goal is to have your tracker installed within 2-5 working days, though this may extend during peak periods or for hard-to-reach locations. Please note that a fitting date cannot be confirmed until we receive your order confirmation. If, in an unlikely scenario, we cannot install your tracker within a reasonable timeframe, you are entitled to a full refund.

Thatcham is the only not-for-profit insurer-funded research center in the UK, pioneering vehicle security since the 90s. They introduced S5 and S7 certification for vehicle tracking systems, verifying product functionality, design, and performance. Thatcham acts as a governing body, not a tracker brand.

S5, the highest Thatcham category, incorporates Automatic Driver Recognition (ADR). This feature requires an authorized driver to carry a tag, card, or smartphone with an encrypted app to identify themselves. S7 trackers, the lower category, lack this feature. An S5 tracker provides alerts in more theft scenarios compared to an S7 tracker. Apart from driver recognition, both S5 and S7 systems share basic features like 24/7 control room monitoring, internal backup battery, and protection against towing or lifting. Additionally, all S5 and S7 trackers (except Tracker Monitor and Tracker Retrieve) come with a dedicated smartphone app for various functionalities.

The tracker is covertly installed in a hidden location, connected to the vehicle's electrical system using standard methods. Wiring is concealed, and the tracker is tested and activated by a Thatcham-approved engineer.

Unlike S5 and S7 categories, S5+ is not a Thatcham category but a trade term for an S5 tracker with remote immobilization. Remote immobilization enables the 24/7 control center staff to immobilize the vehicle in a theft situation. While immobilization is not a Thatcham requirement, it serves as a valuable tool against vehicle theft. Some S5+ trackers allow customers to remotely immobilize the vehicle using a smartphone app. Other systems include "no tag, no start" technology, preventing the vehicle from starting without the Automatic Driver Recognition (ADR) tag in proximity.

To date, there have been no instances of warranty issues post-installation. We adhere to Thatcham-approved procedures, but it's your responsibility to check with your vehicle manufacturer regarding warranty impact.
